What is the Largest Production Budget Given to a Movie?

Answer:

The largest production budget given to a movie before filming started is US$170 million (£118 million) for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (USA 2003), which began shooting on April 8, 2002. The record was previously held by World War II drama Pearl Harbour. In the third installment of the sci-fi action series, Arnold Swarzenegger – who received the world's highest salary for an actor – reprises his role as a futuristic cyborg, this time sent from the future to protect hero John Conner (Nick Stahl) from the T-X Terminatrix, a female Terminator played by Kristanna Loken.

  • I don't think that is true anymore by any means. From 2007 to 2008 there have been several films that have been right just above that. However, even before this original post, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 had a production budget of about $300 million.
